Varje kopp, en berättelse om hållbarhet

Every cup, a story of sustainability

Have you ever thought about the journey your morning coffee makes before it reaches your cup? Every cup is the result of hard work by coffee farmers around the world. At Kaffeboxen, we are proud to offer coffee that not only tastes fantastic, but is also produced in a sustainable and ethical way.

Why is sustainable coffee important?

The coffee industry faces major challenges, such as climate change, poverty, and social injustice. By choosing sustainable coffee, we can contribute to a better world for both people and the planet. Sustainable coffee means:

  • Fair conditions for farmers: Coffee farmers should receive fair payment for their work and be able to support their families. Johan & Nyström, for example, uses Enveritas as an independent party to assess producers and help improve conditions for individual farmers so that coffee is grown in a sustainable and ethical manner.
  • Environmental protection: Sustainable farming methods minimize environmental impact and preserve biodiversity.
  • Social responsibility: Workers on coffee plantations should have safe working conditions and fair wages.

How do Kaffeboxen's coffee roasters work towards sustainability?

At Kaffeboxen, we are convinced that sustainability is a long-term investment. That's why we offer coffee produced in a responsible way. Even if not all our coffee is certified, our coffee roasters constantly work to improve their processes and relationships with producers who share the same vision for a sustainable future.

What does it mean if the coffee is not always certified?

Certifications such as Fairtrade and organic labels are important tools for ensuring sustainability, but they are not always available to all farmers. Many small-scale producers cannot afford the costs of certification. By instead collaborating directly with these farmers, coffee roasters can still ensure fair conditions and high-quality coffee.

How does it work?

  • Direct contact with farmers: Roasters build long-term relationships with their producers and ensure they receive fair payment for their work through Direct Trade, as practiced by Slöinge, Johan & Nyström, and Cozo, for example.
  • High quality: Coffee beans and farmers are carefully selected to ensure a fantastic taste experience.
  • Transparency: Transparency about where the coffee comes from and how it is produced, and direct trade where coffee is bought directly from the producer to avoid intermediaries creating unclear information.

Specific projects

Some coffee varieties have specific projects behind them, such as Karma Coffee's "Girl Power" coffee, which provides direct support to the Girls Gotta Run Foundation in Ethiopia. Johan & Nyström's Bob-o-Link supports agronomists who help Bob-o-link producers in South America maintain fertile and healthy soil on their land over time.

What can you do?

By buying coffee from Kaffeboxen, you contribute to a more sustainable world. Every cup is a small step towards a better future for coffee farmers and the planet.

Is there certified coffee at Kaffeboxen?

There are several certified coffees at Kaffeboxen, such as Björklunds Svartån, Eråkers Mellanrost Grön, Johan & Nyström Perudas, Gutes Visbyrost, and others.
