This organic and Fairtrade-certified espresso is both powerful and chocolatey, well-rounded and sweet, with a wonderfully creamy aftertaste.

The coffee comes from two cooperatives – Incahuasi in Peru and Comicovel in Honduras. The origin is rotated towards the end of spring and then again at the beginning of winter, ensuring that the coffee is in season and tastes just as good throughout the year. Since these cooperatives are located approximately 3,500 km apart on different sides of the equator, their harvesting seasons differ, allowing for fresh deliveries twice a year.

All coffee is Fairtrade and organically certified and consists of the Caturra, Pacas, Typica, and Bourbon varieties.

Incahuasi, Peru
The cooperative is located in the Cusco region of southern Peru and was founded in 2005. The fact that the cooperative is situated in a valley rather than high up in the mountains says a lot about the altitude. The farms here are located between 1700 and 2300 meters above sea level, and it takes many hours by car to get there. Thanks to its inaccessibility, the coffee trees have been spared from most coffee diseases that are spreading more and more around the world.

Today, the cooperative has 480 members who all work hard to progressively improve quality. They have invested in drying beds and equipment to better process the coffee. For several years now, they have also been producing microlots from individual producers within the cooperative, which are sold separately. This creates an incentive for everyone to produce even better coffee and thus receive better pay!

Comicovel, Honduras
The cooperative was founded in 2016 as a result of the Catholic Relief Services' 'Blue Harvest' project, which focuses on the agronomic development of forests and the efficient use of water resources. The project brought together several ambitious producers in the Opalaca area, who later founded Comicovel. The area is located in western Honduras, about 200 km west of the capital Tegucigalpa, and most farms are situated between 1400-1800 meters above sea level. The otherwise relatively barren landscape comes to life thanks to extensive agroforestry, which helps maintain moisture and allows the coffee trees to flourish.

Today, the cooperative has 200 members who continue to focus on sustainable forest and water use, while continuously improving the quality of their coffee. Last year, the cooperative began producing and separating microlots, and they have also invested in raised drying tables!
